Safeguarding the natural environment
Safeguarding the natural environment Understanding the importance of the natural environment is fundamental to our business. Magna Park Peterborough will be built on Drysides, land that is currently designated for clay removal, with the Kings Dyke to the south.

We know that being so near to the ecologically important Nene Washes makes it imperative that any development is pursued in a sustainable and sympathetic manner which is why we will work with local archaeological
and environmental agencies from the outset.

As part of this work we will create a brand new ‘Wetland Park’ for local people on land beyond the Kings Dyke. We want to open up this land for full public use by building a public footbridge for walkers and cyclists to access the green space and newly created lakes. This will provide a fantastic new recreational benefit for the community and deliver a valuable element of the Peterborough ‘Green Grid’.

The City Council wants Peterborough to be the UK’s Environment Capital.
Our Wetland Park and landscaping will play a major role in helping to achieve this, whilst also providing a natural visual and acoustic buffer and offering ecological mitigation. This is as well as acting as a storage point for rainwater from the roofs and areas of hard standing on the site.

However, under existing planning permissions a large amount of the land has already been designated for clay extraction so when the time comes to submit our application to develop the land we will ask the council to set aside plans to turn the site into a giant clay pit.
