The Wetland Park
measures to reduce the sound heard in Stanground.

The new wetland park will act as a wide buffer zone between the warehouses and Stanground and will help to keep noise levels down for local residents. This buffer zone will provide space for acoustic screening in the form of landscaped earth mounds and fencing if it is necessary to deflect noise away.
The Wetland Park The wetland park has not been designed in detail yet so we would welcome comments from local residents to help us with it. We’ll be able to discuss any ideas that you might have at the briefing sessions in a few weeks.

Currently there is no access over King’s Dyke onto Drysides and whilst the wetland park has very important functions, to manage water levels on the site and provide habitat for the wildlife, I want it to be accessible to the public for recreation as well. The park
is envisaged for local people to walk and cycle to, but we could put in a small car park if needed. We’d make sure it was accessible for disabled people. Fishing is one recreational activity that might be catered for whilst other uses will also be considered.

Whilst I want the park to be completely accessible, some areas will be restricted to allow wildlife to flourish undisturbed. We also want to restore parts of the site as a traditional Fenland wet wood which is a type of habitat that is particularly important in this part of the world.
