Other Site Considerations
We have a template for the most environmentally advanced
warehouses in the world. Called Eco-Template it means our
buildings provide superior performance on energy efficiency,
work environment, carbon reduction, renewable energy and
water usage. It’s Gazeley’s policy, for example, to
recycle rainwater from the roofs of the buildings for
cleaning and flushing toilets.
Gazeley seeks to include a wide range of environmental
measures in its developments, including those that generate
power from renewable sources. These can include ground
source heat pumps, kinetic plates, bio-fuel micro power
plants, solar heating and photovoltaic panels. On some
previous developments, including those at Bedford and
Sheffield, Gazeley has
included a wind turbine following
the grant of an appropriate planning permission.
However, not all local communities favour the installation
of wind turbines and Gazeley would respect such views at
Peterborough if there was no strong local support for the
generation of electricity from wind power on this site. A
further consideration to take into account is the close
proximity of important bird habitats that are likely to
point against the inclusion of a wind turbine at Magna
Park Peterborough.
To date Gazeley has never hosted a mobile phone mast on any
of its developments and has no plans to do so at Magna Park
Peterborough. In any case such a proposal would need to be
the subject of a separate planning approval. Effects on TV
reception from our developments are rare in
Gazeley’s experience
but we will carry out a survey of TV reception before planning
permission is granted and will accept the imposition of a
planning condition requiring us to rectify any TV reception
problems if these do occur following the carrying our of
development.
