Since our last newsletter I have had many requests for more information about our proposals for Magna Park Peterborough at Drysides. A number of Stanground residents have asked specific questions, whilst a few others have expressed concern about some aspects of our proposals. Some residents have been supportive of the proposals, recognising that on balance the development will help to benefit Peterborough.

So in this second newsletter I want to give you more information about the possible development and its impact on surrounding areas, our operations and the measures we will take to become a good neighbour. Have a read, and if you still have further questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

Let me start by explaining why we want to build Magna Park Peterborough. The tenants of our developments are mostly blue chip companies with retail outlets. They include Asda, John Lewis, Argos and Toyota.
They operate in a fast moving environment with increasing levels of imported goods – consumers demand fresh produce to be always available, and for every store always to have enough stock.
To satisfy this demand logistics parks, such as the ones we operate, are being built at strategic locations around the country. They hold goods for local distribution to stores and shops, usually operating to a ‘just-in-time’ model. Normally these logistics parks are based around road networks because goods are brought to and fro by lorries.
Increasingly access to the rail system will be more important in the future. Furthermore, there are no facilities in the eastern region of the type and quality which we propose at Magna Park Peterborough. Although there are a number of small warehouses vacant in Peterborough, there is only one large warehouse that compares with our proposal. And Magna Park Peterborough is aimed at a completely different market because of the special nature of this location.
