Dear Stanground resident,
My name is Don Morgan and the company that I represent, Gazeley UK Ltd., has
been talking to Peterborough Council about developing a cutting edge logistics and
rail freight interchange on the land between King's Dyke and the railway line, known
as Drysides.
I wanted to let you know about our talks as soon as I could because if we're going
to be neighbours I wanted to make sure that we got off on the right foot. Over the
coming months I'll be giving you more information about my company and what we
want to do here, and there'll be opportunities for you to meet me and give me your
thoughts.
My company prides itself on being a good neighbour - we believe in strong local
communities and that businesses have a role to play as well. We're committed to
doing our bit, and we want to work with you and your fellow residents to create a
partnership to improve the area. We'll be in touch regularly, so expect to hear from
me again.
In April, when the plans are more advanced, I will invite you to pop in to have a
chat and a cup of tea with me at briefing sessions we'll hold where you can look at
more detailed plans. I'd welcome your views when you drop by because Gazeley is
always seeking ways to improve our schemes where they can benefit local people.
Keep an eye out for the invite to the briefing sessions that will come next month.
I can tell you now, though, that one of the things we want to do is to give public
access across Kings Dyke to a brand new Wetland Park we'll create on the Drysides
land as part of our development. This will provide great recreational opportunities
for local people. At the moment, however, there is planning permission in place for
clay extraction on Drysides so we'll need to get the council to change that first.
And, as part of our scheme, we're committed to finishing, as a dual carriageway,
the bypass around Stanground, which is being started as part of the new housing
development.
I've already had preliminary discussions with the council leaders on behalf of
Gazeley and I've made your local councillors aware of our plans. I'll be meeting
with them again and working closely with them to make sure we do it right. We're
committed to being open and honest so please feel free to talk to your councillors
about this project; I am sure they will feed back your comments to our consultants
or myself.
And we've set up a website about this exciting development especially for
Stanground residents. The address is www.gazeleygoodneighbour.co.uk.
We'll keep updating it as the project progresses and it will be your
first port of call if you want to find out about what is happening. You can use it to
contact us and give your views and thoughts. And if you want, we can send you an
email to tell you when something new is on it to keep you up-to-date.
In the meantime I invite you to read the enclosed newsletter. It introduces
ourselves and lets you know what we do and explains about the kind of
development we envisage on Drysides. And, it lets you know a little about the way
we go about doing things.
There's a card inside the newsletter to return to us. Send it to me now and I’ll make
sure we always send you the latest information so you know what is happening.
I look forward to meeting you over a cuppa in April when I can explain more to you
about our scheme and the benefits to Peterborough and especially to Stanground
and its local community. As you get to know us more over the next few months, I
hope you’ll get to like us here at Gazeley.
I'll be in touch soon,
With my very best wishes
Don Morgan
